Here, you will find commentary, analysis and, hopefully, thoughtful criticism of American and foreign films – mainstream and independent, old and new.
I’m a longtime film buff who has always had a deep appreciation and love of film, the one great art form of the United States. I worked at theaters as a teenager and studied film in college before being sidetracked into journalism.
Now, in the digital age of DVD, Blu-ray discs, video on demand and Internet streaming services, we have access more than ever to a booming library of rich, motion pictures.
Some motion pictures are incredible experiences, others are not worth your time. Some are obvious viewing choices while others you probably didn’t even know existed.
Here, I’ll try to guide you in the right direction. But remember: Just because I recommend a film doesn’t mean you’ll also like it. So feel free to push back and leave your own comments on my site.
One final thought on the name of my site: Sneak Prevue. They don’t do it often anymore, but film studios back in the late 1970s, 1980s and 1990s often staged sneak previews of upcoming films as a way to build strong word-of-mouth before the official opening.
